Wren Turney's Knickers & the Royal Navy at War

The aftermath of the captured Brit sailors business descended first into farce and then into a nauseating performance by pseud celebrity WRN, Faye Turney, denouncing the behaviour of her captors --"I thought they were measuring me up for a coffin" when they were measuring her for new clothes-- and excusing her earlier confession by claiming, "I decided to play the dumb blonde."

She didn't have to try very much.

Watching this self-possessed, obese brat declaring to the world how she was going to give her side of the story I couldn't help feel that by the time the gutter press had finished with her she would have become the laughing-stock of both the Royal Navy and her country.

The MSM's attempt to turn a not-very-intelligent Turney into a celebrity and heroine was nothing short of disastrous. Her lurid descriptions of captivity ("They took everything apart from my knickers ... I whispered, there's going to be a rape involved in this") reduced the affair to an unintended farce.

Blair and his clownish Minister of Defence, Des Browne, were so mightily embarrassed by it all that they and the Navy were reduced to using words like 'tacky' to describe a fiasco from which "lessons would be learned."

The corridors of Whitehall which, during the dispute, had resounded with the dropping of several monstrous clangers now echoed to an endless passing of bucks. Playing to form, Blair dissociated himself from his minions' decision to allow the service personnel to publish their stories while putting the blame for doing so on those who had suggested that the MoD had intended a clumsy attempt at cheap propaganda which had backfired rather badly on it.

Now, the Iranians have announced their intention to release a film showing their version of how the British navy personnel had been treated. No prizes for guessing that this, too, will be another victory for President Ahmadinejad in an asymmetric war against the combined military might of USUK imperialism presently encircling and threatening his country.

While the intention of Blair and a compliant media led by his mouthpiece, the BBC, had been to discredit the Iranians in the eyes of the world the outcome, where the Brits have been exposed as unaccomplished liars, has been very much the opposite.

What no one in that media has dared to point out yet is the manner in which a lying British government joined forces with a psychotic wannabe US President to misuse, abuse and bully the United Nations Security Council, turning it into a weapon against the victims of their choice.

This same media prattle on about Iran's "defiance of the international community." Oh really? Since when did Bush, Blair and their neocon friends get the monopoly on that phrase? Probably in that same moment of hubris now trapping them and their mercenaries like the glue of bad karma in a repeating time warp.

BBC: "Keep taking the Blue Pills!"

BBC News 24, the international version of Blair TV's media war machine, has just announced a decision by the British Ministry of Defence to 'allow' the 15 navy ex-detainees to sell their stories to the press. This will only be permitted after the stories are vetted by their commanding officers!

What blatant propaganda from the British corporate state!

No intelligent person is going to believe that this is anything but another seedy attempt on behalf of the Blairite war party to sell the world a load of unmitigated bullshit making their 15 employees sound like heroes who were abused by those terrible Iranians.

It's interesting, though, that Blair and the Brits are entering the information war at this level. Clearly, they've been rattled by the way a handful of bloggers, led by ex-UK Ambassador Craig Murray, successfully challenged the lies being put out by the Ministry of Defence. The quality of Craig's information has been so spot-on that it was taken very seriously by both members of the British Foreign Office and a media otherwise servile to the Blair war party.

The Bush regime --it's not an elected government-- has, for some time, been conducting a war of disinformation through the international press and by practising cyberattacks against dissenting websites on the internet. Now, it seems, that his sidekicks in the UK are beginning to use similar methods.

BBC News 24, along with the rest of the UK media, are also making a big noise about the death of four British soldiers in a bomb-attack in Iraq. The suggestion being put out is that the bomb was supplied to the Iraqi resistance ("terrorists" according to the BBC) by Iran. This is clearly the BBC following an instruction given them by Blair to use the approach already being used by Bush's junta to whip-up anti-Iranian feeling among their respective publics prior to another horrendous war crime, this time to include nuclear weapons, in Iran.

The UK Media must be reminded, over and over again, that it is already complicit in a war crime committed against Iraq and that the enthusiastic spreading of lies and disinformation with which it is now targeting the people of Iran compounds the criminality of every one of its journalists who willingly buy into and help perpetuate the USUK's endless genocide against humanity.

Fool Britannia

One thing is certain, Tony Blair's idiotic behaviour during the Anglo-Iranian maritime dispute did no one any favours, least of all the 15 British service personnel who were detained in Iran for just under a fortnight.

Blair and his cohorts did a lot of huffing and puffing, insisting that the Iranians had grabbed the sailors whilst in Iraqi waters. This is the front that the British, with an orgy of jingoism from its media, have put up all along.

In fact, the incident took place in a disputed area where what we have heard are a series of claims and counterclaims from both the Iranians and the Brits. There is very little doubt that the British were acting in a provocative manner and this last was only one of a series of border incidents where the Iranians claim they have strayed into or overflown Iranian territory.

The Iranians, quite understandably, see British operations as part of the wider involvement of the USUK coalition occupation of Iraq. Iran has been encircled militarily by US and NATO troops and the Persian Gulf is currently teeming with the US Fleet and its aircraft carriers. A fact that is witheld from the western public is that the USUK are conducting a covert war against Iran, using special forces and Iranian anti-government elements to conduct kidnaps and cause devastating bomb attacks.

As well as this, Iran is under the constant threat of a blitzkrieg attack from both the US and Israel. US war planning for such an attack involves the use of conventional and nuclear missiles. Without yet having made a first strike military attack both the US and its quisling, the Bliar, in 10 Downing Street are doing everything they can to keep the sabers rattling.

Despite denying it now (he would, wouldn't he?) one of the detainees, Captain Chris Air, recently gave an interview in which he admitted that the Brits use all their maritime activities in this area for intelligence gathering.

Diplomatically, at least, the Iranians are no match for the Tweedledum and Tweedledees, Bush and Blair. Blair's diplomatic assault on the Iranians went off at half-cock and he's been made to look a strutting fool in front of the whole world. And even his military, it seems, can't do anything right.

On their return to the UK it was inevitable that the ex-detainees would be debriefed by the Royal Navy and fed a line to give at a face-saving press conference backing up the British story. That is exactly what happened today. But even this the Brits messed up by getting their official story in a tangle.

First, a Lieutenant Felix Carman (fourth right) stated that the Brits had been "definitely within 1.7 nautical miles of Iraqi waters" when they were arrested. He was followed by Captain Chris Air (third right) who, not quite so sure of himself, said that they were "probably 1.7 miles" when the incident took place. A fawning BBC news commentator commented on Air's "eloquent speech", ignoring Carman's patently precious inanity that whilst under detention their "guards didn't speak English" and "suffocated" them by keeping them incommunicado.

Why is it that wherever the Brits go in the world they arrogantly expect people to speak English?

The British media has behaved in a servile and wholly uncritical manner about the clumsy way in which the Bliar has dealt with things. In fact both he and the Brits have been seen by the world as helpless fools and their media to have sunk to new depths of seediness. Now that the 15 personnel are back safely the Bliar and his complicit media feel that it's safe to resume banging the wardrums against Iran.

Make no mistake about it, despite having made theirs into a sad little country now the laughing-stock of the world, the Bliar and his nasty little supporters are itching to get their revenge for this humiliation. And in doing so they don't give a toss how many innocents might die in the most horrific circumstances. These tinpot imperialists are all despicable cowards for whom no punishment is great enough.
